Before Dianne started midwifery studies, she already had a background in herbology. She got her training from the School of Natural Healing in Springville, Utah. This influenced her midwifery practice a great deal, because she had a firm trust in the body and the way it functions, along with the knowledge of how to use herbs to help liven the body and address problems. In addition, she has been trained in several other holistic modalities.
Dianne feels that when midwives are trained in herbology, nutrition and other holistic areas, they are able to give better service to their midwifery clients. It is one thing to be able to diagnose a problem, and entirely another thing to have the knowledge to suggest something to do about it.
Over the years Dianne has developed many herbal formulas that are suited for general health issues and pregnancy and has administered them to hundreds of pregnant women. There is so much misinformation on the internet about what herbs a woman should take or avoid during pregnancy. Much of this is due to a misunderstanding of how herbs work in the body. So, since the 1980’s, Dianne has taken great care in devising formulas that are safe and effective for pregnant women to take. Her formulas have been well tested and proven in her midwifery practice, as well as by other midwives, who are actively using her formulas in their practices.
